Final Design and Permitting Under Way
Through late 2026, we’re wrapping up final design and permit review for the new TowneBank Symphony Park. These important steps clear the final hurdles to beginning construction soon.
State Dam Safety Review
Did you know that there’s an underground earthen dam on the edge of TowneBank Symphony Park?
Underneath Carnegie Boulevard, this state-regulated dam has been in place for decades, and our project team has been working with the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality to ensure the planned improvements comply with all necessary safety standards. For TowneBank Symphony Park, this includes removing a few trees within the dam’s boundaries and conducting additional review of the SouthPark Loop trail plans along the park’s edge.
Planning for Future Events
SouthPark Community Partners is already hard at work planning the first year of programming for the revitalized park. Imagine free, community-driven experiences like outdoor yoga, farmers markets, family-friendly movie nights, and more. Plus, longstanding events like the Charlotte Symphony’s Summer Pops series, the Charlotte Turkey Trot, and SouthPark After 5 will continue to call the park home.
